Netball players stretch mental muscles with life skills training.

RUIMSIG — Zandspruit netball teams are provided with crucial skills through the Maragon Outreach Programme that provides an outlet on the court.

The Maragon Outreach Programme is providing a group of netball players from Zandspruit with social skills in the comfort of the netball court.

The girls are enriched with life skills and developments through netball tournaments that engage them on conflict resolution and good sportsmanship.

Coaches Liza Vince and Jolinda van der Westhuizen beamed about the initiative.

“The life skills benefit the players and the school. It is an opportunity for everyone to become involved and show compassion to the community and people around you.”

The programme enables the girls to stretch their physical and mental muscles with weekly computer skills classes.

Goodie packs and lunch are provided on tournament days to fuel the enthusiastic athletes.

“The girls are transported to and from Maragon, and they also receive a Tekkie donation. The day is all about netball, not who wins or loses. We just want the teams to enjoy all the positive outcomes that sport has to offer, including mental and physical health, social skills, self-confidence and leadership skills.” said Vince.
