Cape Town outfit wins second division league
Cape Town All Stars are the ABC Motsepe League national play-off champions
Cape Town All Stars were crowned the SAFA/ABC Motsepe League national play-off champions by beating fellow promoted side Highlands Park 5-4 on penalties following a goalless draw in regulation time.
The match, which was played at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi on Sunday, was forced into a penalty shootout and the Capetonians emerged winners in the inaugural ABC Motsepe-sponsored play-offs.
SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan, SAFA NEC members and the Motsepe Foundation top representatives were all present at the final in what was a fiery and tightly contested encounter.
The Balfour Park outfit did suffer a dent in their title aspirations when they saw Moses Dlamini flashed a red card for indiscretion.
Still, Highlands Park managed to hold on for the remainder of the game and force the game to be decided via the lottery of a penalty shoot-out in which the Cape Club came out victorious.
