Keshi takes himself out of the running.

Stephen Keshi has rejected the offer to take over Bafana's reins because he felt the salary was too low.

Bafana Bafana target Stephen Keshi is expected to extend his stay with the Nigerian national team, ruling out all suspicions that he may become the new South African coach.

‘The Big Boss’ was on the brink of leaving the Super Eagles at the end of his Last 16 stint at the FIFA World Cup, which saw his contract come to an end.

It was suspected that he was the favourite to take over the reigns from out-of-contract Gordon Igesund, but it was reported that he rejected it as the offered salary was lower than that at which he was earning with the Eagles.

According to Kick-Off, the NFF have instigated talk over the possibility of extending his contract and that he will not be named as Bafana’s new head coach on Saturday.

Carlos Queiroz is the favourite candidate to take over the job, while Shakes Mashaba, Frank Rijkaard and Herve Renard are all amongst the names of possibilities.
