Return of the king

Siphelele Mthembu, aka ‘Shaka Zulu’ has returned to the Amakhosi and is ready to win some silverware.

New Kaizer Chiefs striker, Siphelele Mthembu, is happy to be back at the Amakhosi and is looking to work hard to achieve glory for the club.

‘Shaka Zulu’, as he is affectionately known by the fans, came on as a second half substitute in the Amakhosi’s 4-2 win over Chippa United in a preseason friendly match on Sunday, July 20.

He joined the club from Platinum Stars, but it is not his first stint at Chiefs following a brief spell in the Gold and Black in 2008 before a contract dispute saw him end up at Orlando Pirates.

Now back at his dream club, Mthembu says he is looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead and knows that only hard work will see him succeed.

“I am happy to be back. I fell strong and I am ready to work, it feels really good to be back,” said the 26-year-old striker.

“This is a great environment to work in. Personally, though, I think I have to work much harder than before.

“My aim is to score goals, we as South Africans have been set a task of breaking the goal scoring record which has been set by a foreign player. I want to break that record, I am determined. I also want to help Chiefs to win silverware.

“But I have to work hard, it all points to that.”
