Manqele wants out

Striker Edward Manqele has every intention of leaving Mamelodi Sundowns, but Sundowns aren't making it easy.

Striker Edward Manqele has demanded his clearance from Mamelodi Sundowns after the club placed him a six-week weight-loss programme.

Manqele was left out of the squad that travelled to Zimbabwe for a pre-season camp, with the weigh-loss programme cited as the primary reason for this.

However Josiah Mphono of Mphono Players Management told KickOff.com that the club are trying to discredit the striker after finding out his intention to leave.

“All this this is not true, Manqele carried the same weight at Moroka Swallows and did well during his loan stint with the club last season,” said Mphono.

“I know the official in the Sundowns communication department who is responsible for sending this message to the media but he is clearly not aware that this kind of information is killing the brand of Mamelodi Sundowns.

“The truth of the matter is that when we met with Sundowns, Trott Moloto and Mike Ntombela were present at that meeting.

“The player stated his intentions of leaving the club and all he did was ask for his clearance,” he adds.
