Exciting draw for Knockout Challenge

The Engen Under-17 Knockout Challenge's last leg will take place in Cape Town in August

The 2014 Engen Under-17 Knockout Challenge national youth Soccer programme gears up for yet another exciting end with the fifth and final leg set to take place from 1-3 August in Cape Town at the William Herbert Sports Complex.

The competition, celebrating its 11th year, will see seven new clubs from the Western Cape region participate for the first time in this prestigious tournament. The draw has seen some enticing encounters drawn up.

The tournament draw which took place on the 15th July delivered some potential tantalizing encounters with the seeded teams of Ajax Cape Town, Santos, Chippa United and ASD Cape Town heading up the four group sections.

The Urban Warriors are undoubtedly in the ‘Group of Death’ in which Maheer Davids’ side has been paired alongside Cape Town All Stars, new boys Hellenic and Old Mutual.

The Group Sponsorship Manager of Engen, Brad Bergh, says he is proud to have witnessed a steady growth in the standard of competition over the past few years and the crop of talented young men who have progressed into the higher ranks of the sport.

“From humble beginnings eleven years ago we are proud to see the tournament grow into the stature it has,” said Bergh.

Last year Ajax Cape Town was crowned the champions of the tournament, and it has since been confirmed that this year’s regional winners will go to Johannesburg to fight for top honour of being crowned the ultimate Champion.

The Engen Champs of Champs will be hosted by SuperSport United, who is sponsored by Engen, and it will take place on 10th to 12th of October to determine who is the best Under-17 team in the country.

Group B: ASD Cape Town, Milano United, Atlantic Nacional, Western Cape Sport Schools

Group C: Santos, Glendene, Bluedowns, Liverpool Portland

Group D: Chippa United, JMI (Jean Marc Ithier) Cape Town, Hanover Park, Crusaders
