Coetzee still wary about Sharks

Coetzee says that the Sharks are not a poor side for losing to Cheetahs.

Stormers coach Allister Coetzee says that he is not reading too much into the Sharks’ loss on the weekend ahead of their Super Rugby clash this weekend.

The team from Cape Town is set to host the Sharks on Saturday at Newlands with 19h10 kick-off time.

Stormers come into the game off the back off of a 16-0 win over the Bulls while the Sharks suffered a 27-20 loss to the Cheetahs.

The loss was the Sharks’ second in a row in the competition after the Stormers beat them 21-19 prior to the weekend’s loss, but coach Coetzee says he is not underestimating them.

“I have learnt that you don’t look at the previous Sharks game, you look at the previous game we played against them,” said Coetzee.

“Things have not changed necessarily, the Sharks won’t be different, they are not all of a sudden a poor side because they lost to the Cheetahs.

“I think it is about us and not the Sharks, we have just got to make sure we put together two 40 minutes performances like we did last weekend.”

The Stormers have been in a development stage of their rugby, evolving their game plan into one which is far more balanced between attack and defence, and recently they have started getting it right.

Coetzee has emphasized that his side continue to do the important things correctly.

“The important thing for us is too pitch up like we have, to have the same intensity in our training this week, and it starts now,” added the Stormers coach.

“Like we said last week, this is a very important game for us, these last two games – but the last one is probably the most important one because that is where you leave your last impressions.

“We definitely want to make sure we get it right, if we don’t get the result it will be a bit of a set back.”
