Patosi, Jali and Keet looking good ahead of the 2014/15 European season

South African footballers in Belgium, Ayanda Patosi and Andile Jali, have begun their European pre-season on a high note.

Former ASD Academy (Cape Town) player Patosi scored a goal and made another as his Lokeren side won their pre-season friendly against Woluwe Zaventem 2-1.

Meanwhile former Orlando Pirates star midfielder Andile Jali continued his positive build-up to the new campaign with yet another good showing for KV Oostende against Ingelmunster.

Jali’s team Oostende stopped him from travelling with the Bafana Bafana side to Australia and New Zealand at the end of May because they wanted him to be fresh for what they see as a crucial season for Jali this year.

Another South African in Belgium, goalkeeper Darren Keet, looks set to get a run for Kortrijk when they face F91 Dudelange in their next pre-season fixture on Friday evening.

Former Bidvest Wits shot stopper Keet missed the end of last season due to shoulder surgery, with the intention of being fully fit for the start of the 2014/15 campaign.

Don’t be surprised if Keet wins a transfer soon given the positive impression he made last season with several stand out performances. Talk is that Keet’s representatives are looking at options to take his career to the next level.

The new season in Belgium kicks off earlier than in most European leagues. The opening round games start on the weekend of July 25-27, less than two weeks after a potential World Cup final appearance for the Belgian national side, who have impressed at Brazil 2014.
