Nigeria not safe enough for Sundowns

Political unrest in Nigeria has caused the Mamelodi Sundowns to cancel their training camp.

Mamelodi Sundowns  look set to cancel their proposed trip to Nigeria where they were planning on holding a training camp ahead of the 2014/2015 Premier Soccer League season.

The Brazilians were keen on holding a training camp in the West African country, where they were hoping to play a few games against top flight opposition.

However, political unrest in the country has forced ‘Downs to reconsider the trip and are now to scrap their Nigerian excursion.

Sundowns resumed training at Chloorkop on June 24, and have since gone on camp in Polokwane where they will play a couple of games during their training camp.

Sundowns will also take part in the Cape Town Challenge 2014. The competition will take place at Athlone Stadium from July 25-27, where the likes of Bidvest Wits, Ajax Cape Town, Sundowns and Chippa United will take part.
