Bafana Bafana midfielder May Mahlangu was named in IFK Goteborg’s squad for Thursday’s Europa League qualifier against Fola Esch.
The Swedish giants will host their opponents from Luxembourg at the Gamla Ullevi Stadium on Thursday evening.
Attacking midfielder Mahlangu has just returned from an ankle injury he suffered in May and has also struggled with an achilles tendon tear before that.
Mahlangu has been in the starting lineup for Goteborg during their recent friendly matches against Norwegian side Stromsgodset and Danish outfit Odense.
Goteborg coach Magnus Edlund is hopeful that his side will start their campaign well at home, but stressed that they will not underestimate their opponents.
“We have respect for our opponents and their qualities,” Mahlangu told the club’s website. “They play a kind of 4-1-4-1 with deep defence and they break quickly.
“We hope to do a good job and get a good result from home.”
