SPAR national netball team geared for Scotland test

"This series gives us a chance to see how the players have progressed."

The success of the five-week Brutal Fruit Netball Cup will be put to the test later this month when the SPAR national netball team clash with Scotland in a three-Test series in Cape Town.

The three Tests will be played on consecutive days at the Velodrome in Bellville between June 19 and June 21.

“It is a very opportune time for us to play this series,” said Netball South Africa (NSA) President Mimi Mthethwa.

“We have just finished the Brutal Fruit Netball Cup, and this series gives us a chance to see how the players have progressed.

“Also, with the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in July our big focus for this year, we will be able to try out the team and see how prepared the players are for the challenge ahead of them.”

The Proteas occupy sixth place on the current International Netball Federation (INF) world rankings while Scotland are the 12th best team in the world.

The 2014 Commonwealth Games will take place in Glasgow, Scotland from July 24 to August 3.
