Proteas to face Australia in Mauka Oval

ODI between rivals in November confirmed.

Australia will play South Africa in a one-day international at Canberra’s Manuka Oval on November 19, Cricket Australia confirmed on Monday.

The encounter will be the second game involving the Australian national team in the capital’s national stadium following recent upgrades which have boosted the ground capacity to 15 000.

“This is exciting news for Canberra cricket fans, and another step in affirming Manuka Oval’s credentials as a venue for international cricket,” CA chief executive James Sutherland said.

“We are pleased to be working in partnership with the ACT Government, and I thank the Government and in particular Minister Barr for his hard work in securing this match, and for his support for cricket in the ACT more generally.

“The Centenary of Canberra ODI in February last year was a great success with a sell-out crowd, and I’m sure that November’s match against a strong South Africa will be no different.

“Cricket Australia looks forward to continuing to work with the ACT Government and Cricket ACT for the continued growth of cricket in the ACT and the broader region.”

The Proteas are currently gearing up for a test series in Sri Lanka that will see Hashim Amla debut as the national team’s since Graeme Smith’s retirement.
