A proud bunch of karateka from the Horizon Karate Centre has returned home from the SA JKA National Championship with 26 medals.
The championship was held at the Standard Bank Arena in Johannesburg and saw almost 3 000 entries from across the country.
“I’m exceptionally proud of them,” says sensei Wendy Wannenburg (6th Dan).
“Competitive karate is only a part of the art. The majority of students do not participate in tournament,” she continues.
“Karate is a wonderful martial art with training benefits for young and old. It teaches self-discipline, self-defence, concentration, coordination and overall wellbeing.”
