Progress in forming one sports body

This after two more area sports committees climb on board.

The Roodepoort Sports Development Foundation (RSDF) indicated that progress has been made to form one sports body, the Roodepoort Sports Council (RSC).

“The game is on,” Aubrey Thomas of the RSDF said after two more area sports committees were formed recently.

“We welcome the newly formed Bramfischerville Sports Forum under the leadership of Pheello Kotelo. This Sports Forum from Ward 44 under Councillor George Lekgetho, covers the areas of Bramfischerville Phase 1, 2, 9 and 10; Meadowlands Ext 11, 12 and 13; Mmesi Park and Soteba,” Thomas said.

“We are delighted to welcome the Matholesville Sports Forum under the leadership of Thabang Myekeni as well. This Sports Forum from Ward 127 under Councillor Sabelo Ngcana covers the areas of Mathole, Sol Plaatjie, Goblerspark and Leratong Village Plot 8, 9, and 10,” he said.

Although the RSDF is delighted to see the wards forming these area committees, Thomas wants to remind leaders that the area committee is expected to communicate with all sports people in its area.

“The Ward 70 Sports Committee under the leadership of Mervin Mooi comprises the following areas: Florida, parts of Florida Hills, Florida North, Fleurhof, Florida Park, and parts of Florida Lake.

“The Doornkop Sports Forum under the leadership of Lawrence Molapo is in Wards 50 and 129 under Councillors Mandla Zulu and Jabulani Thomo respectively. They therefore should include the following areas: Doornkop Block Thulane, Doornkop, Dobsonville and Green Village.

“The existing Roodepoort Sports Development Foundation (RSDF) in Davidsonville also should be constituted properly. This sports forum, under the leadership of Theo van Rensburg, is in Ward 71 under Councillor Gert Niemand. The ward includes the following areas: Davidsonville, Witpoortjie, Groblerpark, Lindhaven, and Princess. Please include the Princess sports-loving people, and everybody in that ward.

“It is important for sports forums to include all residents in their areas. This will ensure that the objectives of the Regional Sports Forum are met sooner.

“The Roodepoort Sports Council will be the region’s mouth piece and it therefore should have area committees that are completely inclusive, non-racial, non-sexist and apolitical.”
