Parker to miss start of the season

Parker's rehabilitation could take longer.

Bernard Parker could still miss the start of Kaizer Chiefs’ 2014/15 season despite having undergone a successful operation to his ankle.

The small-framed striker was scheduled to be sidelined for around six weeks, but reports are now suggesting that the 28-year-old’s rehabilitation could take longer.

For several months Parker had remarkably been playing through the pain for both club and country, even after being aware that he would have to go under the knife at the end of the season.

It is certain that Parker will miss the beginning stages of the Amakhosi’s preseason preparations, and may be ruled out for the first weeks of the campaign too.

The South African international scored 10 goals in last season’s PSL campaign, seeing him end of the season as the league’s top goalscorer even after failing to find the back of the net since February.

Parker has been with Chiefs since 2011, where he turned out 83 times and scored 25 goals in the process.
