South African downhill rider Greg Minnaar had to settle for a seventh-place finish at the 2014 UCI Downhill World Cup in Fort William, Scotland on Sunday.
The 32-year-old was racing in his 100th UCI World Cup but failed to finish in the podium in the Men’s Elite race as he finished with a time of 4:41.894 to claim 90 world ranking points.
The Pietermaritzburg-born mountain biking icon finished just over five minutes behind race winner Troy Brosnan from Australia, who completed the race in 4:36.580.
Joining Brosnan on the podium were countryman Samuel and Great Britain’s Danny Hart, who finished second and third, respectively.
Minnaar’s accolades include 3 World Championship titles, 16 Downhill World Cup victories and 61 Downhill World Cup podiums from his 100 starts.
He will now look to add to his achievements in the next event, which is scheduled to take place in Leogang, Austria, from June 12 to June 15.
