Le Clos to race in Monaco

Le Clos set to unleash fireworks.

Double butterfly World Champion Chad le Clos will be one of the top swimmers who are set to unleash fireworks in pool at the 2014 Mare Nostrum in Monaco from June 7 to June 8.

This will be the first of three meets in the Mediterranean series with the second set for Canet-en-Roussillon in France on 11-12 June, while the last leg will take place in Barcelona, Spain, from June 14 to June 15.

Le Clos will be in good company with top swimmers such as Daniel Skaaning, Laszlo Cseh, David Verraszto and Gal Nevo.

Last year Le Clos enjoyed a lot of success in Monaco, clinching two gold medals in the 100m and 200m butterfly before grabbing the bronze medal in the 200m freestyle

South Africa’s Roland Schoeman holds the record for the 50m butterfly for the time of 23.19 seconds while Le Clos set the meet record of 51.64 in the 100m butterfly.

Another South African swimmer, Cameron van der Burgh, holds the record for the 100m breaststroke as he completed the race in 59.73 seconds in Barcelona in 2012.
