Another great Wilro Lions Cycle Challenge

More than 1 000 cyclists turn up for 16th edition.

The 16th Wilro Lions Cycle Challenge held at the Tarlton International Raceway again was dubbed a huge success.

It was the sixth time the cycle challenge was held at the Tarlton International Raceway.

With all the recent rains, organisers feared it was going to be wet, miserable and make competitors think twice to compete on race day. But this was not the case and the event saw more than 1 000 cyclists turn up.

According to one of the race organisers, Rob Stevens from Westgate Wheelers, “A fantastic day dawned for the cyclists, perfect for great racing, and pure enjoyment of our great sport.

“Watching the event unfold on race day is always met with apprehension by all concerned, hoping that all the months of preparation and meetings finally will be put into action, and the end result will be positive.

“This year was a success for the Lions Club of Wilro Park and all funds raised by this event will be put to good use for the many worthy causes that the Lions support.

“We thank everyone who made this event possible, and to all cyclists who entered the event wanting to give back to the community. Your continued support of this event is greatly appreciated,” said Rob.

Organisers asked that the following be thanked for their support of the event:

ER24, the ER24 Road Rangers, Monument Toyota Constantia, Mogale Traffic Department, Central Gauteng Cycling, Insurex Brokers, Tarlton International Raceway, Cycle Events, Racetec Timing Company, West Rand Amateur Radio Club, Rawsons Properties, Remax Properties, Mr Plastics, Sportsman’s Warehouse, Montic, Westgate Wheelers Cycling Club, Country Wide Medals, Lions Club of Wilro Park and all the various volunteers and helpers for the event.
