Well-known PSL coach to attend local sports event

SuperSport United's Cavin Johnson will address the youth.

The Roodepoort Sports Development Foundation (RSDF) has confirmed that a famous face in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) will attend a public sports event to launch the organisation in Davidsonville on Saturday 1 February.

Aubrey Pele Thomas, spokesperson for the RSDF says, “We can confirm that SuperSport United manager Cavin Johnson will be present on our launch/ event day. He will give a short talk to youngsters about football and will be involved in our Seven-a-Side exhibition game involving young boys. We will give him a team of U/6’s to coach for five minutes as well.”

In an email Cavin said, “I would like to thank you and your organisation for inviting me to give a talk to young people on the challenges as a pro football player and coach”.

The event is a fun day with a children’s jumping castle, dragon-boat racing, a seven-a-side soccer exhibition and a presentation of various other unfamiliar sporting codes in this area such as rugby, tennis, basketball, swimming, netball, golf and hockey on the menu.

The main attraction will be the dragon-boat racing at 1pm, which will be a first to the community of Davidsonville,” Aubrey said.

The RSDF is a community-based Non-Profit Sports Council of Roodepoort, based in Davidsonville and responsible for all the surrounding areas. Should you wish to become involved in this event, the RSDF will appreciate any form of help.

Areas where assistance is required range from emergency services, cost of using the park, sound system, mobile toilets, catering, stationery; dress code and children’s kits.

“We thank you for your consideration, and will ensure that your company is included in the list of companies that have met their social responsibilities in the communities where they operate from.”
