Two schools from Rdpt named champs.

There were celebrations all round for Roodepoort-based schools after the Durban Deep KJK Judo Club announced the winners of this year’s Schools League Tournament at the annual prizegiving recently.

They say there is a first time for everything and this was the case for Horizon View Primary School (Roodepoort) who won the league for small schools (one to 20 pupils doing judo) for the first time, with a whopping 96 points. Laerskool Randfontein finished in second place with 42 points.

In the category for Medium Schools (21 to 40 pupils doing judo), Laerskool Helderkruin (Roodepoort) finished first with 188 points, and Laerskool Horison (Roodepoort) in second place with 164 points.

In the category for Big Schools (40 + pupils doing judo) Laerskool Kenmare (Krugersdorp) finished in first place with an amazing 394 points and Maragon Private School (Ruimsig) finished in second place with 283 points.

Head coach at the club, Katja Bruwer says, “The highlight of the day was indeed the presentation of the awards to the winning schools”.

She explains that, “Points are awarded for participation and position achieved at four league tournaments held throughout the year”.
