Black belt at twelve

Focus and determination makes for a budding karate champion

RADIOKOP – At a mere 12-years-old Northsider’s Logan Stadler has received his black belt in karate. In every discipline of karate the black belt is the highest achievable colour, and denotes a degree of competence. Logan had been training in brown belt level for the past two years.

Stadler began karate at the age of three. His father, instructor and mentor Cassie Stadler said he is delighted with Logan’s current achievement. “His passion and hunger to grow is what makes him who he is today,” Cassie said.

Logan is no stranger to success, having won several awards in his young career.

He represented his training academy at the South African National Karate Championships, as well as the World Karate Championships held in Florida, USA, where he walked away with seven medals and five trophies.

Father Cassie explained that karate has improved Logan’s school performance.”He has learnt how to prioritise things. He knows that from school he does his homework, and then it’s training time.”

Logan plans to assist other children at his training academy, Tebbutt’s Training Academy in Roodepoort. “I’m already assisting the younger ones during training sessions to show them that it is possible to reach their goals,” a determined Logan explained.

When asked why he loves karate, the talented martial artist said that it’s a disciplined sport that helps him to remain focused and to defend himself when faced with bullies at school.
