94.7 Cycle Challenge road closures to take note of

"No vehicles will be allowed": Councillor.

Councillor for the City of Johannesburg’s Ward 117, Tim Truluck would like motorists to take note of some road closures and that no vehicles will be allowed to travel on certain roads in and around the City as thousands of cyclists take on this weekend’s Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge [https://www.cyclechallenge.co.za/Home/PressList].

A statement by Tim this week confirms that the whole of Jan Smuts Avenue will be closed from Empire Road in Parktown, to Bram Fischer Drive in Randburg between 5.30am to 1pm on Sunday 17 November.

“No vehicles will be allowed to cross over the road during the closure, and your visitor’s passes won’t be of any use to you.

“Also Bram Fischer Drive from Jan Smuts Avenue to Homestead Drive will be closed from 5.45am to 1.30pm.

“The M1 southbound also will be closed from Buccleuch to the M1/N1 split from 4am to noon. So you will be able to go to Pretoria, and you will be able to use the bridges to go over it.”

The 94.7 Cycle Challenge allegedly is the second biggest mass participation cycle race in the world and close to 30 000 cyclists are expected to take part in the race.

Tim says, “If you live elsewhere and/or you want some more details, please go to the race website www.cyclechallenge.co.za

or contact the race organisors on 011 01 7 2700 or cyclechallenge@highveld.co.za. You also can follow them on twitter: @momentum947.”
