Feeling generous? Here’s how you can help

Winter is especially hard on animals, the elderly, the homeless, and the vulnerable members of society.

The first five months of the year have flown by and as the days are getting shorter and the temperatures cooler, we are all preparing for the long winter months laying ahead.

Even though it is said that we cannot make a difference in everyone’s life every day, we can do something every day to make a difference in one person’s life. I am a firm believer that, if we start prioritising helping these types of organisations more, even if it means doing something small, we can affect a big change.

The Caxton Joburg West branch will be doing its bit to help keep the cold away, by doing a blanket drive from June 1 to 30. All blankets collected will be donated to selected charities in the West Rand area, and we would appreciate the community’s help as well.

A donation box will be available at the Caxton Joburg West’s office at the corner of General Pienaar Avenue and Ham Street, Witpoortjie between 8:00 and 16:00 as well as the Caxton Joburg West Randfontein satellite office at 38 Homestead Avenue, Homelake between 8:00 and 16:00.

Winter is especially hard on animals, the elderly, the homeless, and the vulnerable members of society, as well as the various charitable organisations assisting them. To help them brace for these cold months, here are a few organisations that would appreciate all the extra help they can get:

Wings of Inspiration Care Centre

The centre takes care of 427 vulnerable women, children and senior citizens in Roodepoort, Krugersdorp and Randfontein. Their needs list for winter, includes fresh vegetables, winter clothing, blankets, medicine and oxygen. For more information on how to help, contact them on 071 829 1293.
