Showing some love for kids with cancer

The staff at Caxton Joburg West hope that their contribution helped to make a difference.

There is not much that can beat the sweetness of a delicious cupcake, except knowing that, while enjoying the delicious comfort snack you are also making a difference.

This was the case at the Caxton Joburg West office this past week, when the staff put their hands deep into their pockets to support the Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer’s #BakeADifference campaign. The campaign, which aims to educate people about childhood cancer and all it entails, has Cupcake Angels who help raise money and awareness towards this goal, as well as to celebrate International Childhood Cancer Day, which is in February.

The non-profit organisation (NPO) raised a whopping R500 000 last year with this initiative, and on their Facebook page they expressed their desire to do so again. This was all the motivation this office’s Caxtonites needed to roll up their sleeves and do what they could to help make this wish come true.

Some of the journalists jumped in and baked five dozen cupcakes, and their colleagues did not have to be asked twice to get their hands on those beautifully decorated sweet treats. Those without a sweet tooth (or two), also made sure they contributed with generous donations. At the end of the day, we were able to donate R640 to the cause, which we hope would help the NPO to reach their goal for this month.

It just goes to show that a kind gesture, no matter how big or small, can make the world’s difference to someone who is need.

Until next week, stay safe and look out for each other …
