‘It is a money-making scheme’

If you are very lucky, you might find one near you, otherwise you are forced to take whatever is available, as your offspring need to get their learners licences!

Peed-off parent from Roodepoort writes:
I have a question: How come is it that when our children go for their learners tests, they all seem to fail by ONE, and depending on where they are taking it, it can be either road signs, or the rules of the road, but never the same one twice!

Next, why have we (the paying public) have no recourse to these test results, and the marking procedure?

All that happens is they get told they have failed, so go home and book another test! At least at Krugersdorp they get a form telling them their marks and where they failed; but still the same story, try one, failed on road signs, so try two, when you are lucky enough to get a booking at the same centre, now you fail on the other one?

What in God’s name is going on with this dysfunctional system?

First you can only book a learners on a Tuesday, then you have to go and pay for this booking within three days, which is all well and fine, if you were lucky enough to get a booking at your local licensing department. If the only booking you could get was in Mabopane, you are looking at a couple of hundred kilometres there and back to pay, and then go back and pray to God the system passes you!

And as to booking a slot? If you are very lucky, you might find one near you, otherwise you are forced to take whatever is available, as your offspring need to get their learners licences!

To do this can easily occupy a day, going onto the NaTIS system, and then thinking you have got your slot, only for it to have vanished before they send you your OTP!
