Car licence disc renewal – consumers beware

The lesson, i should have checked before leaving, but being a trusting soul, I didn’t.

I went to the Civic Centre on 19 February to purchase my yearly car licence disks. I went with cash in hand with the relevant forms completed, and was charged R914 for both my car licences. I received no receipt for payment, only the two new disc pages.

When I got home, I saw the payments on the license was R432 for each car, which totals R864; R50 less than what I was asked to pay.

My question: was the R50 an additional fee I wasn’t told about? An additional surcharge? The lesson, I should have checked before leaving, but being a trusting soul I didn’t.

The people there are very pleasant to deal with and it didn’t cross my mind that anything untoward like this would occur.
