Concern for Princess High learners

Concerned citizen from Princess writes:

I live on South Road, next to Princess High School and on countless occasions I see students strolling to school after 8am. I often see some of them smoking and drinking (what I hope is) energy drinks, sitting under trees or in their school transports. I worry about the future of these kids, their parents who work hard to send them to school and how they destroy the school’s reputation.

What amazes me is that it’s not just the boys, the girls are also involved. They dress inappropriately and hang around with the school transport guys, most of whom look dodgy, and smoke dagga and other substances with the kids.

One schoolgirl came to me to ask for directions to Westgate. When I asked why she was not in school, she said her mother had told her to come back home. I wondered if that was true and why a parent would allow such behaviour.

Please can parents who have children at Princess High take this issue seriously, because tomorrow these kids will become a security threat to the neighbourhood as they will have missed out on getting an education, be unemployed and end up abusing substances.
