The road is a death trap

Gerhard Schoeman from Roodepoort writes:

The accidents on Christiaan de Wet Road refer.

The left lane on this road at the first corner where the accidents happened is very dangerous and there are no barriers protecting drivers.

It stopped raining before 5pm on Saturday but water was still flowing into the left lane. The photo attached shows the left lane at about 7pm, two hours after the first accident without any more rain. If you drive in that lane with a car next to you, you have no choice but to drive through the water.

Your car has no traction on the left front wheel and pulls to the left with no road or time to react. My wife and I were in the first car that rolled down the embankment and there was nothing I could do because the car reacted within seconds, before I could even think. I was not driving fast. I did all the right things by not braking, foot off the petrol and holding the steering wheel tight, but we went off the road in the blink of an eye.

I am fine, but my wife was stiff on her right side. She had a shoulder operation four weeks ago and is still recovering from it. Mentally, the scene and experience keeps replaying in your mind, so it will take time to fully recover. Something must be done about this road!
