Not everybody is supportive

Ms J Wilkins from Witpoortjie writes:

What an excellent suggestion to that older person from Florida, “Why don’t you start an agency to get people in their later years employed?”

As you say, he/ she was quick to shout their mouth off about my changing my attitude. I wonder how he/ she would feel after responding to over 1 800 job adverts. Only 200 had the decency to reject me up front because their system did not see specific words in my CV.

Twenty-two recruitment agencies invited me to meet with them, and of those 10 sent me to their clients for an interview – even as far as Irene in Pretoria. Not having a job, where must you get money for petrol?

And those emails requesting you to fax your CV plus a photo plus all your certificates at R13 per page? I am unemployed!

So please tell me, what attitude must I change? All I asked for in my letter was a job.

And you must be extremely accurate when you say, “Judging from your letter I must assume that you are gainfully employed and not facing the many issues we are facing”.

Hope you have caring family, friends and neighbours who support you – unlike my ‘friends’ and neighbours.
