We need to pull together as well

JL Wilkins from Roodepoort writes:

Loshnie, why are our neighbourhoods deteriorating? Who is speeding? Who is littering? Surely you cannot blame that on Ward councillors?

It is the people living in our communities who are the culprits. Why don’t people start taking a stance against those desecrating our environment? Hundreds of thousands live in these communities, and Mayor Mashaba and the ward councillors are thinly spread. You can’t expect them to do everything.

Yes, I agree, we pay rates and taxes but moaning won’t get rid of the problems. Get involved and help the ward councillors. And the Mayor is not in charge of the police or our neighbourhoods. He oversees teams that are employed in the various departments in the CoJ, which has hundreds of suburbs and millions of inhabitants, not all of them South African citizens.

Mayor Mashaba is really trying his best, so it’s time we pulled finger and started working together instead of expecting everyone else to clean up after us.
