Let’s help the trolley guys a bit

Lynton Baasch from Roodepoort writes:

The trolley guys are performing a very good service by collecting the recyclables. The letter from Barry Pieters highlights some issues, including safety.

However, how would he like to have to do their work? Could he root through other people’s rubbish?

It would be so much more efficient if households would sort their own rubbish and separate the recyclables. I have 4 boxes in my garage, one each for paper, plastic, glass and tins. On the evening before collection day I pack the sorted recyclables into shopping bags, tie them closed, and place them next to or on top of the black bin.

The black bag is just for perishables.

The trolley guys see this and realise that the rubbish has been sorted and are grateful for this “extra help” from the householder. No mess is created if this suggestion is followed! C’mon residents, do this!
