Rentals are out of proportion. I am 74 years old, and my children cannot support me. I have a medical aid. If I let my medical aid go, then maybe I can afford rental of R3 000. With my medical aid I can only afford R2 000.
Now I ask you, where must our senior citizens go in this position? Most retirement villages are in the region of R6 000. Their motto is if you cannot afford it, ask your children to support you!
Please, owners of properties, make it possible for seniors to live well in your old age homes. At our age our bonds are paid up. Why such elaborate rentals? We did not earn the salaries of the workers of today.
Our pensions are not big enough to live a good normal life. Some, like me, come from a professional background, are neat and tidy, do not smoke or drink and are devoted Christians. Where must we go?
