I just want to thank Warrant Officer Hleza from the Florida Police for the excellent service he and his team provided.
On 11 July we went to the police station to report the theft of a cellphone from one of our boys. They had some information on where the cellphone was sold, and when they confronted the guy, he demanded R500 from them to get it back.
They left and phoned 10111 and a van was immediately dispatched to assist them. When the police officers arrived at the location, the man told them that the phone was not with him, but he would phone his friend to bring it.
The police officers told the boys that they could not arrest the man, because they had not opened a case, but, when we went to the police station that evening to open the case, the warrant officer immediately dispatched a team to arrest the suspect.
The team brought the suspect in, and he returned the cellphone to the boys.
There are still police officers who understand their role, and we are grateful for that.
