That area poses a huge problem

Charlotte Steenkamp from Georginia writes:

I am referring to the letter Promises are not kept in the Roodepoort Record of 23 June.

I am part of the residents forum for Georginia South in Ward 84 where the green belt area is not being kept clean. It is full of litter. There is a bridge across the green belt that is covered with reeds, which block your view so you cannot see if someone is hiding.

We had an incident where a woman, who was walking from Georginia Railway Station towards Kent Street where she lives, was robbed and nearly raped. When her husband called her name it scared off the thug and he fled.

This would not have happened if the reeds were maintained, the grass cut and the bridge maintained .

The cement palisade fence at Hamberg Dam is also broken. These guys hide inside and rob people when they pass on their way home.

This area is all part of the bird sanctuary and the lake, and there are bird and fish species that need our protection.
