Promises are not kept

A very worried and concerned pensioner from Florida writes:

About the end of last year the ward councillor decided that something had to be done to clean up the bird sanctuary and so the work started.

It went on for a few months but then everything came to a dead stop and nothing more has been done. Firstly, the roads department was going to widen the width of the river on the west side right through to Hamberg Dam and clean the musk out of the river.

But they only did a length of about 10 metres and no further. All the tree branches and rubbish that were blocking the pedestrian bridge have still not been removed and the water is all green and dirty thus causing a very bad health hazard.

Furthermore, there is still a very large quantity of rubbish in the sanctuary that has still not been removed and it is increasing day by day and is also a big health hazard. But it seems that nobody is interested any more in cleaning up in the sanctuary.

I think the only way to get this matter sorted out immediately is very simple – get a new ward councillor who would be interested in cleaning up the sanctuary for the residents in this area and their health. These days, promises are made but not kept, so let us all stand up together and demand that it be done, not later but now, and make it a better place.

What do all the other readers and residents in this area think about this matter?
