I write this letter, speaking for myself, so I don’t know how many residents of Witpoortjie and Princess will agree with how I feel.
You are no longer protesting housing, meeting politicians or any constitutional rights that you seek. You are now becoming arsonists and criminals. How many of your children don’t walk down Albertina Sisulu because they feel unsafe?
How many of your children cannot attend school in the immediate surroundings because you have decided to burn, plunder, attempt to murder or (best) even wreak havoc! You are no longer upholding your rights, you are now saying that you are above the law. You are adding to the unemployment. You are adding to the state of fear. But, might I add, this is a right-wing ploy to make the left-wing look weak.
Wake up. You are pawns in a political game which will never be won through violent acts. Your acts are not legislated, but promulgated through propaganda. You are the so-called “educated” South Africans who cannot use apartheid as an excuse any more. You are the born frees and the next generation, and yet, you repeat a painful history that gains you nothing.
Wake up! You are destroying everything that the ruling party stalwarts worked hard to gain. Get over your self-pity and actually get up and make your own futures. Stop acting like drones and make your own decision to fix your situation.
