Stop killing, do what is right

Anonymous from Roodepoort writes:

I don’t know how true this might be, but this is what I have thought is the biggest problem cause in not only Princess, but in many informal settlements.

Individuals are saying that when a development is built, the residents of the informal settlement should receive the housing. Wrong! Apparently, if you are 40 years or older, have never owned a property, and cannot get a home loan to own a property, you should put your name down for an RDP house and you will eventually receive one. Not so sure about this one.

So let’s get to why Princess is burning and blocking and protesting.

These residents already have RDP houses, in Limpopo, Emalahleni, Western Cape, Eastern Cape etc, but now they live in Gauteng’s Princess informal settlement and they want a government house there too. They fail to remember … they already have houses! They are renting out this house and have chosen to live in a slum!

Go back to the house you have already received and vacate Princess so that those who do not have can legally, fairly and equitably receive what the ruling party has promised for 21 years. If you already own an RDP house, you are not entitled to any more! So much for equity, and wanting what the apartheid era took away from you. Try be adult about this and stop using the excuse of mob justice and uncivilised behaviour to justify your greed.

If this is the way you want it to be, then why vote for a better life? Why place an X where you know there will never be improvement? Recently you were told that R3 500,00 was an acceptable wage on which to raise your children. Open your eyes. Open your minds … Stop killing, burning and inconveniencing … Do what is right.
