OPINION: I have a dream

JOBURG – Mbali Zwane writes a letter about a preferred future.

Mbali Zwane of Sophiatown writes:

I have a dream

To live in a crime-free county, to walk in the street any time with no fear, to trust and love everyone.

To treat every child like he or she is my child.

A country where we don’t sleep outside because we are afraid of cold and not criminals.

A country where everyone is honest where there is no need to bribe someone for something.

A country where there are no accidents, where everyone arrives safely everyday, where everyone has concern and drives responsibly.

Where there is no hurt, pain and tears.

Where there is no unemployment at all, where we all can afford to take our children to better schools, where there is no poverty at all.

Where we all respect and help each other to succeed.

Where there is no racism, tribalism, and xenophobia.

Where we are all equal and we don’t judge each other at all.

Where there are no unplanned pregnancies.

No drugs at all, no alcohol abuse, no child abuse, no women abuse and man abuse.

Where there is no jealousy, or pretenders, where there is no anger at all, only love and happiness all the time

Who said dreams can’t come true?

South Africa, surely we can fulfill this dream

“No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” (Nelson Mandela)
