I have designed roads as part of my profession. When designing a road one must design the road for the ruling speed limit which is determined by the area. The radii of vertical and horizontal curves and the super elevation is determined by the speed limit. This means that when you go over a crest (hill) or through a dip, the vertical radius is ruled by the speed limit. This also applies to the bends in the road.

Sadly, some people think the speed limit is merely a suggestion and go flying out of control and the consequences are often fatal.

There is nothing wrong with the road. There is a blatant disregard for the speed limit on behalf of the motorist.

If possible, JRA could construct speed humps, but this could lead to further problems.

A fixed speed camera can make a huge difference over a long time and restore respect for the law.
