I encourage residents of Roodepoort to lodge a group protest against the city council for the erratic non-supply of refuse removal services.

I hold the city council responsible for not having contingency plans in place during illegal strike actions by Pikitup, as it is the council who bill me each month for services I am not receiving. Why, why, why am I forced to pay these fees? Why don’t I have the right to pay only for those days that my refuse is actually collected? Why do we just accept this from city council, while we shout loudly when retail businesses do not provide the services we pay for.

The city just shrugs their shoulders, referring us to Pikitup. Pikitup doesn’t have a call centre where one can complain or give input.

The workers must be very unhappy with Pikitup if they continue striking over and over.

The local councillor could also not suggest anything to my satisfaction.

How ludicrous is this? Time to privatise and bring in some competition.

We, the residents, are being held to ransom by a municipal entity which deosn’t work efficiently. It’s time for a change.
