Driving in Roodepoort can certainly be frustrating.

The trouble begins with fellow motorists who insist on tailgating even though I’m in the slow lane and driving at the acceptable speed. They’ll hoot and flash their lights and if that does not work even resort to bad language.

What is sad about this scenario is that I could be distracted by all the nonsense and drive myself straight into a ditch while the idiot who was causing all the commotion will drive off without a scratch. And don’t get me started on the cyclists who insist on cycling in the road and we as motorists have to swerve around them at the risk of crashing into the cars in the next lane. Instead of getting off the bicycle when tired, they will continue while bobbing and swerving left and right.

One blow and they could fall over but yet they still continue. That’s insane. And then come the pedestrians who think they own the road, who will take their sweet time crossing the road and expect the motorists who was driving at an acceptable speed limit to suddenly come to a halt.

I call these people the emperors because they command that we stop. For some reason they look the motorists straight in the eye and dare them to hit them just a little bit. I am not saying motorists in the area are saints but those sharing the road with us don’t make it easy either
