I arrived at the Roodepoort Police station on Tuesday 13 October at 5.35pm.

There was already a long queue of frustrated people waiting for service. I had no choice but to join the long wait.

Upon arrival, there were one officer busy serving a customer. There were a few officers standing around and talking to each other, then they all disappeared.

We were told the officers were busy with ‘shift changes’ and we just have to wait patiently. Needless to say, in that time not one single person got assistance. One officer was just standing around, not assisting.

This is absolutely ridiculous. For more than an hour that I sat there (people who arrived before me, waited even longer), and there were no service because of “shift changes”.

What if someone came in with an emergency and needed assistance immediately?

Can’t these shift changes happen in such a way that service could still continue and the public not put on hold for an hour and half?

I don’t even want to talk about the condition of the filthy station, and its terrible condition.

At 6.30pm service finally happened when sg Labuschagne walked in and changed the terrible situation. Great appreciation for him.

I only left at 7.05pm.

This makes me even more negative towards this City, as the public always have to pay tax, and then take a back-row when it comes to service delivery.
