It has been a week since the news report of the terrible abuse suffered by the greyhound in Florida. By next week the incident will have been relegated to “old news”, and be forgotten by the majority of your readers.

The sickness pervading South African society has become so common, that the public have developed an immunity to incidents that would never be tolerated in first world countries. The government’s obsession with human rights has ensured that our country has become a haven for criminals and psychotic deviants. People break the law with impunity, and when they are exposed, have the arrogance and lack of moral fibre to plead innocence in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Criminal acts involving violence and cruelty against children, the aged and animals, should have severe penalties, whereby the perpetrators are never given the opportunity to repeat the offence. We have very good Constitutional laws, but due to corruption and incompetence, they are not enforceable. It is my sincere wish that the cowardly scum who are guilty of such abuse toward defenceless animals, never receive a moments peace, and that they will be denied the privilege of ever owning an animal again.

Congratulations to the brave neighbor who ensured this person was brought to justice. We need more people like you.
