What must we do now?

We had the bad experience of an armed robbery on 27 March this year. We were confronted by robbers with a gun and knife and tied up in our bedroom.

They took a lot of valuables and my precious car. Because of that we contacted a security company and had an alarm installed.

Since then, someone has switched off our electricity at the outside meter on two occasions. Once on a Friday at 10.30am and the second time on Saturday at 11am. I did see someone go past the gate at that time and saw the same person go on up Dee Dee Brown. We did not register that something was wrong until 4pm that day when we contacted a neighbour and they advised us that their lights were on.

So we had to expose ourselves (not being funny) and go outside and switch the meter on again. The front of the meter box had been ripped off.

What I want to ask is why do the meter boxes not have locks on? In previous years, before it was the City of Johannesburg, there was a lock provided by the City of Roodepoort, then we did not have problems.

Now dear people, tell us what must we do. We are at the moment open to robbers, because our electricity meter is open to anyone who wishes to tamper with it. We would welcome advice. Since the robbery we have not had any response from Roodepoort Police. We have tried to call them and have been told that they are not here today.

They are always there when they wish to catch us for speeding.
