In the early hours of Monday my mother’s car was broken into at our home. It was parked all the way behind the house not visible to the road where we thought it would be safe. The thieves removed the back window to gain access to the car – they then ripped out the car radio and the speakers together with the back board to which they are attached, but did not stop there they also removed the car battery.

We discovered all of this early on Monday morning much to our distress. This car belongs to my 64-year-old mother and is not insured so everything that had been stolen or maliciously destroyed was for our expense.

Cost of new battery R950, radio and speakers a birthday gift to my mother a few years ago a luxury now so not going to be replaced, back window rubber to reinstall window not manufactured by Fiat anymore (1998 model) so junk yard replacement R150. My mother took her car to Lombard Tyres Florida to have what she thought was only a bracket holding up the exhaust repaired. Unfortunately the thieves had done a lot more damage by standing on and twisting the whole exhaust out of alignment and the expected cost to repair the damage came as a shock. This after all the other expenses and trauma was just too much for her and she broke down.

Joe Tagari of Lombard Tyres took care of my very distressed mother and repaired her car. Joe is a truly kind and compassionate human being who helped us beyond what was required or expected. It is not every day you come across someone who goes out of their way to help another person especially a total stranger.

We would like to thank Joe for his support, kindness and professionalism – thank you for being there for our family. We would also like to thank the two policemen from Florida police station who responded to our call. They were both patience and compassionate while taking a statement which I am sure they have to deal with numerous times every day.
