Every morning and afternoon I have to drive past Roodepoort and Florida high schools and I am stunned by the attitude of many of the parents who drop and collect their children at the schools.Roodepoort High School provided parking for the parents, but some prefer to inconvenience all the other drivers, by stopping in the road and leaving the provided parking empty.
They have an attitude of entitlement, without thinking of anybody else that has to use this road.What is more shocking is that JMPD and the police van will drive past these parents without correcting their behaviour. This is very annoying and frustrating. What are they teaching their children? That it is okay to disregard the law?
These schools should reach out to the parents and request that they correct their negative behaviour and the school should then be held responsible if they don’t.This endangers not just the children’s lives, but affects other drivers behaviour. The traffic department should erect no stopping signs at these schools and should enforce the law of the road if necessary.
