Law abiding citizen fed-up

JOBURG – A fed-up citizen addresses a letter to South Africa's president, Jacob Zuma.

Law abiding citizen writes to President Jacob Zuma:

I am a law abiding citizen who has faithfully paid taxes to the government every month for many years. I find the request to pay e-tolls from the government unacceptable.

I refuse to pay.

Mr Zuma, you promised an influx of investors and tourists to our country with the 2010 World Cup. In comparison to the Soccer World Cup just hosted by Brazil our World Cup was a huge disaster. We had empty stadiums because the world did not want to visit this crime-ridden country.

Was this a big fat joke to you. No one is prepared to trust a dishonest leader, especially where their safety is concerned.

I am sure Brazil will not

This country is slowly but surely following in the footsteps of the rest of Africa. Mr Zuma, women are raped on a daily basis, children die falling into poo pits, innocent people are dying at the hands of illegal immigrants. There is no priority from you to catch the criminals.

All you are interested in is extorting and penalising law abiding citizens who are trying to make an honest living. Where are your priorities Mr Zuma? With the citizens of this country or filling your pockets?

You cannot disregard the nation’s feelings with regards to the e-tolls. You have not consulted with the people. Threatening us with legal action. What type of leader does that?

My sisters are unemployed because you don’t create jobs in this country. Oh, I forgot, you are too busy filling your pockets before calling it quits. I, unfortunately, cannot afford to pay you one more cent.
