YOUR BODY: Scrub your way to better skin

Reduce blackheads and shrink pores by exfoliating with olive oil.

It sounds counter-intuitive to use oil to fight pimples and blackheads, but using an olive oil and salt scrub is healthy for your skin. Within three short days your blackheads should be visibly reduced and within two weeks your pores should have shrunk significantly. A month later your skin will be glowing, blackhead-free and softer and plumper than ever before.

Olive Oil is thought to derive many of its health benefits from the antioxidant hydroxytyrosol, which has antibiotic properties. Olive oil contains vitamins D, E and K, and contains Beta-carotenes, which is turned into vitamin A by our bodies. The monounsaturated fatty acids in olive oil dissolve the oil that your skin produces, helping to unclog your pores.

Ingredients:

1. One cup finely ground sea salt

2. ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil

Method:

1. Mix the olive oil and the sea salt together and store in a jar with a secure lid.

2. Wash your face as per normal and then while still wet, rub the mixture into your skin, using a gentle circular motion.

3. Allow to sit on your face for three minutes and wash off with warm water.

Apply daily for one week, then cut back to two or three times weekly. You will soon see a noticeable improvement in your skin as the salt cleanses the pores by exfoliation and the oil restores the skin’s natural moisture.
