Confusion poses danger for pedestrians

Yay for traffic light, no for bad driving.

Yay! So the 5th Avenue Roodepoort/ Georginia pedestrian light (going towards Clarendon Drive) is working after being out for ages, however, road users using that road clearly don’t know that pedestrians have right of way when that robot is RED.

Pedestrians that get off at Georginia station as well as the residents risk their lives crossing that road because we have idiots for drivers these days or they are totally colour blind.

Yesterday (Monday 14 October) and this morning (Tuesday 15 October), we witnessed 2 pedestrians almost being knocked down while they had the right of way to cross the road at the pedestrian crossing while the traffic light was RED for cars. I wish these pedestrians will pick up something and throw it at these cars that think they own the roads and just ignore what a RED pedestrian light robot stands for.

It means STOP… You idiot.

It infuriates me to see that drivers are in such a hurry every morning that they are not even considering the pedestrians on our roads.

I wonder how many other pedestrians risk their lives throughout the day at that crossing.

If I had the right to fine these drivers just for not stopping at that crossing, I would be stinking rich.
