I am surprised that there have not been any comments in the Roodepoort Northsider about the recent spate of power outages – are we just getting used to this?

I would really like to know if having three outages in four weeks, all starting about midnight and running into a Wednesday morning is really an electrical problem, or a planned outage.

First week, 28th August, we were out for about 18 hours, next time was 11 September when we were out for about 12 hours. Then Wednesday 18 September we woke up, again to no power. Thank goodness only for about seven hours this time.

The contents of my freezer have thawed, some have been thrown out, the rest refrozen, thawed again, refrozen and partially thawed again.

Will City Power pay when we fall ill after eating food that is not too good? Will they pay for the contents that I threw out and that which I should have, and still would if I could afford to re-stock my freezer?

And not a word about these unusually long outages since those that were caused by striking workers a few weeks ago.
